The Evolution of our Bar Stools....

My Our design style is evolving, so the things we  spent so much time doing, we are changing it again, and I couldn't be more excited about it.

When we brought off CL:
Contemporary espresso with tan fabric.. I wasn't a fan...

Then I decided to change fabric to this..

Not sure why I chose that fabric
so again I changed it again.

TO this mess...

Country Chic??lmao
so it went through it's blue period..
new color & fabric.. I hated it.
What was I thinking??

Today:
Now, this is by far my favorite!

Contemporary Global
black & new fabric... I just love looking at these chairs!

Which transformation do you like the best??

Before & After -Our Office Desk: Maple ! :)

Hi there! How was your Easter weekend????? Ours was pretty good. We got a lot done, we refinished our desk that we brought from the Green Project for 25 bucks & spend about 25 bucks refinishing it, we worked on the garden, and organized some stuff like, the shed & the office ( still working on).

I would like to introduce you to Maple. She is Candian, and that is why we named her Maple because the Maple leaf is on the Candian flag ( Sr. is the one who came up with the name because he is random like that. I would have never thought of Maple which is such a great name!.).Nevertheless, She was a little sad before. She was homeless. Now, she has a new look & a place to live- right in our home office! I heart her soooo much! Tell me what you think about her transformation:

Before:

We sanded her down with a rotary sander. We used grade 40 & 60.

We used Mission Oak stain & poly. yep, it's the same stain we use on almost every piece of funiture that we refinish.. I mean if it ain't broke then don't fix it..lol :)

The method we use & love is to rub in the stain in the wood with a rag. If you want to try this then make sure you use some REALLY good gloves!

What do you think??? What have you been working on??

Screen Door on Pantry :)

We came, we saw , we conquered! :)

Happy Monday! Mondays are never really happy. I mean it's the day after the weekend! However, I am having a happy Monday because our pantry is finally finished ( for now) lol.

Pantry before:

Can we say boring???

Pantry after:
I love the beat up pantry door. We didn't want it to look like we brought it from a store. We wanted it to look like we had it for decades as if it could have been on the pantry since the house was build in the 50's.

The lighting in this area is horrible, so I tried to get the best shots as I possibly could.

Nevertheless, there is some stuff that will get an upgrade eventually like smaller baskets, better dog storage, etc.., but for now I am we are pleased with the outcome. :)

What do you think? Love it or not so much??

Project Pantry in Full Effect

Happy Friday!!! :)

Project pantry is in FULL swing. & I am so happy.. :)

Now, yesterday, I posted these beautiful pictures of our Dinning Area check that out here..

Before: Lovely, I must say myself. lol

but be very afraid of what it looks like now! lol I literally started this mess right after I finished taking those pictures..

Horrible right??? lmao

Well, we are working on project pantry.. So I had to clean it out to patch up the wall and paint, so we can work on the shelves..

Onto to Project Pantry....

 Pantry befores:

Not too shabby right??

Well, I can't STAND those wire shelves. The previous owners put them up pretty badly which is why this happen:

More about that here

Progress:
The wire shelves are gone, and they will be replaced with wood! YAY!! :) Are you wonder what we are doing with the wire shelves? Well, we are selling them on Craigslist! Check them out here if you or you know someone who wants them! Just because I don't like them doesn't mean somebody else won't. Right?? ha But if these wonderful shelves don't sell, then we will put them up in our garage... Yeah, we are really big on recycling , so we will not send these to a waste land.. We will find use for them some where in casa Cheathams.

I want to replace this, but practical Sr. is not feeling that . I would like something maybe not so practical, but that will look amazing!! Who will win this battle? stay tuned. I have a good idea who will win.. ha
Can we say I had a busy busy week???  I got a lot completed & started like all of those big projects ( some I haven't even posted yet) like dinning room chairs, completed dinning area, & started project pantry, plus a whole BUNCH of small projects like Spring wreath, Chalkboard labels, Peter , organzing files on computer, and I did a lot of  blogging, household chores and shopping. Plus, I got a good bit ( depends on what you call a good bit) of my Spring cleaning done ( which should have been done, but c'mon I'm on only human or am I?? LOL) ...And people think housewives do nothing all day.

I did all of this with a not soo interested crying soon to be 5 month year old...Yep, I think I'm superwoman..

This weekend
Not only will we be working on Project Pantry, we will have to do lawn work.... When will we sleep?? lol

Can we get a baby sitter?? :)

What project will you be tackling this weekend??

Have you already got a pantry completed that you would like to share???

If no project, then how will you be spend your weekend??

New Dinning Chairs

We brought some new chairs for our dinning room area from Bridge House Saturday. I We are in love with these chairs. I sent Sr.  a picture of the chairs & his response was Cheatham Ole Cheatham. I knew right then that we had found our new project! I don't know if you can tell but one of the chairs is missing a piece. lol I think it gives the chair character.  We will be painting the chairs white, and Sr. wants new fabric on the seats, but I like the fabric already on them, so eventually we will be recovering them. lol

I can't wait until we start this project ( can you tell how happy I am? lol
Stay tuned! :)
(What have you found brought lately?

Dinning Table Redo

I really LOVE this next transformation that we did. We had a lot of help from friends & family(Smitty & Stanley) with this transformation. Thanks you Guys! YOU are the best!!
Before:

After:

Which do you like best???

Also, I am thinking about painting the chairs white, but SENIOR is protesting against this. I guess because of all the hard work that went into finishing the table & chairs, but I am going to get my way ( I hope I am going to get my way)! lmao..
But I am going for a look like this with the table & chairs:

Isn't this beautiful??
Senior, Can I pretty please with ice on the top change the chairs to white???? :)

So how did we do it?
Well, We took apart the table, sanded it down & we stained it.

We used this on the table & chairs. We used rags to rub on the stain instead of paint brushes. I find that rubbing it down with rags helps the stain to absorb better then paint brushes.

Buffet project

I have been on the search for a buffet. My price range, well, let's be honest I didnot have one because we are broke..LMAO. However, I really needed wanted a buffet to put all of my fine china nice glasses, plates, decorative stuff in. I looked all over craigslist for months. I went to sooo many thrift stores for months, but I couldnot find anything that I really liked & could afford. Until, I went to one of my favorite places.. the Preservation store in the ninth ward around the corner from my grandmother's house.
I came across this very dusty piece of furniture that was in desperate need of love that I really wanted to give it, but it was WAYYYYYY out of my price range... which I didn't really have one like I said in the latter; however, I knew this wasnot in it!! lol . This is my first love.. They wanted $900 for this:
Let's just say she is pretty, but clearly not worth the price.. However in front of it was another hutch that was dirty,UGLY..etc. It also needed some tlc.. but I wasnot sure if I wanted to give it any. Plus it didnot have the character that my first love had. However, it had plenty of potential! It was 8ft long! They were asking 140 for top & bottom, but I didnot even want the top. The people did not want to sell them separately;however, me & senior have big plans for the top any ways. Well, meet big red:

It wasnot love at first sight because I went back to this store about five time before senior brought it for me for my birthday! I was so happy to begin. It turn into about a $250 project(buffet, stain, sand paper, spray paint, molding, tools, wood filler, pily wood & legs)... We sanded it, spray painted, stained it, put legs on it & put on a new back. whew! It took us about 2 weeks to finish. IT NEEDED a LOT of WORK, but thanks to my persistence & constant nagging of my husband.. Sry senior! :)

When I say I LOVE my buffet/ bar, I mean it! I L O V E it! :)

If you are thinking about trying something like this I suggest wearing protective eye wear, mouth wear & gloves! because there was so much dust still in our garage from all the sanding! Also, have a plan. If you can figure out everything you may need & buy it. because we kept having to stop because we forgot to buy something at Lowe's & because we have to do things when we actually have money for it, so we had to wait on a lot of stuff. Oh well, it was well worth the wait!

Man, when life was this easy!
